| Victoria University of Wellington - http://www.vuw.ac.nz Victoria College was founded through an Act of Parliament in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and named in her honour.
The University’s four pioneering Professors – Thomas Easterfield, Hugh MacKenzie, Richard Maclaurin and John Rankine Brown – arrived in the capital in 1899 to take up their duties.
